Road Arrow at Electric Vehicles Days

The Electric Vehicles Days – the first regional conference and exhibition dedicated to electromobility as a new global technological solution for transporting people and goods, was ceremoniously opened at the Novi Sad Fair. Representatives from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade attended the event, upon the invitation of the organizers – the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad and the company Ninamedia.

Electric Vehicles Days brought together leading experts, representatives of automotive industry companies, and students from technical faculties from the country and the region, as well as manufacturers of components, parts, and software for the automotive industry, chargers, and supporting infrastructure for electric and hybrid vehicles.

According to participants’ assessments, this event provides a good opportunity to comprehensively explore the topic of electromobility and make it interesting not only for professionals but also for the wider audience and decision-makers.

On the first day of the conference, three panels were held, discussing existing technologies, current regulations, national policies, and support measures for the development of electric and hybrid vehicles, along with examples of good practice.

The panel focusing on the developmental challenges of the main components in electric vehicle propulsion and the importance of stronger cooperation between research institutions and leading automotive companies caught the attention of the professional audience.

Speaking on this topic were Prof. Dr. Vladimir Popović, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade from October 1, Prof. Dr. Rade Doroslovački, the Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad, Prof. Dr. Saša Mujović, the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Montenegro, and Mr. Egon Morgen, the Director of Research and Development of Electric Drives at ZF Serbia.

The second day of the conference plans three more panel discussions, covering topics related to charging infrastructure construction, software development, their security, and other challenges that the automotive industry faces.

Within the exhibition part of the event, leading companies in the automotive industry presented their products, drawing attention to the latest achievements in the development of electric cars and electromobility.

Among the exhibitors is the Formula Student team “Road Arrow,” which gathers students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and their colleagues from eight other faculties of the University of Belgrade and the Military Academy.

For ten years, these young Formula 1 enthusiasts have been designing and producing racing vehicles for Formula Student competitions across Europe. They have created nine internal combustion engine-powered cars and participated in over 20 competitions, achieving remarkable results and receiving recognition and praise from experts in leading automotive industries worldwide.

This season, “Road Arrow” made its debut with its first Formula Student class electric vehicle, for which it developed unique lithium-polymer batteries and other original solutions.

As part of the event, the IEEE 4 CHALLENGE was also organized – a project designed for students who, through four thematic challenges, solved problems encountered by automotive industry engineers. Besides gaining new skills and knowledge, this competition provided an excellent opportunity for networking among students with similar interests.

The Electric Vehicles Days event was organized by the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad and the company Ninamedia, with the support of the Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade was represented by Prof. Dr. Radivoje Mitrović, the current dean, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Popović, the newly elected dean, and Prof. Dr. Marko Miloš, the mentor of the Formula Student team “Road Arrow.”
