Start of the 2022 Competition Season

The electric vehicle of the Formula Student team “Road Arrow” will have its world premiere on the track in the Netherlands. Our representatives will compete from July 11 to July 17 at the Assen track in the Netherlands, alongside other European formula student teams in static and dynamic disciplines.

This year’s vehicle has exceeded all expectations with its features and appearance. The aerodynamic part, made of composite materials and the finest carbon fibers, houses a battery with a capacity of 5.2 kWh and 140 lithium-polymer “pouch” cells. After 9 vehicles with internal combustion engines, creating an electric vehicle with a range of 22 km was a challenging but attainable goal. The vehicle boasts a power of 80 kW, a unique all-wheel-drive system – one motor in each wheel – equipped with planetary gearboxes and a torque vectoring algorithm that provides torque management for each wheel individually.

All software used was written by the students themselves. Prior to the start of the competition season, several weeks of testing were conducted in the CIAH laboratory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The entire process of vehicle development, testing, and final launch required countless days and nights of work in the workshop. The members of the “Road Arrow” team are immensely proud of the work they have accomplished over the past year and are hopeful for the best results at the competitions.

The First Serbian electric vehicle was inaugurated on June 28, on Vidovdan, in the parking lot of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. This summer, from July to September, “Road Arrow” will be traveling across Europe. The first stop is the Netherlands, which our team also visited in 2019, followed by Germany, Hungary, and Croatia. Our representatives began their journey on July 8, and a long summer full of effort and hard work lies ahead of them. We wish them all the best of luck and the highest achievements at each competition!
