A lower centre of gravity, electronic traction control, adjustability for every track, better cornering behaviour… “Road Arrow 2017” easily won over our drivers. After all, the design focused on better ergonomics and vehicle control on track. To this end, data readouts were split between the steering wheel and the dashboard, giving the driver a better overview while driving. The chassis design was optimised, and LVDT sensors were fitted to the suspension for the first time.
Even more carbon-fibre parts were produced, building on their excellent performance the previous season. For the first time, the car featured parts that the students 3D-printed themselves. On the aerodynamics side, improvements came from adding a row of flaps to the front wing, along with larger mounts for them. The extra flaps produced a more aggressive front wing which, together with the rear wing and the rest of the aero package, improved the car’s performance on track. The drivers felt this most of all, rating racing this car as the best yet.
