FSRA 2016 vehicle

The distinctive grey-and-black texture of carbon fibre – seen on a race car in this region for the first time. Formula 1 fans will not miss that “Road Arrow 2016” was modelled on the fastest race cars in the world. The steering wheel, seat, bodywork and aero package are made of carbon fibre. Composite technology was this season’s revolution, cutting the car’s mass by as much as 15 kilograms. To reduce mass further, the team decided to use an intake manifold made of 3D-printed plastic and carbon-fibre parts instead of the variable-geometry one.

Aero package design was taken to a new level: a 1:3 scale model of the car was built and tested in a wind tunnel. This confirmed the simulation results and produced Road Arrow’s most efficient aero package. Ergonomics were designed on the basis of detailed analyses of the drivers’ experience, resulting in a hollow composite steering wheel with integrated electronics. The design of Road Arrow 2016 surpassed every car before it.
